Temple P-day and Conference time

Dear Family and Friends,

Well another wonderful week in the Great California Long Beach Mission. This week was kind of rough. One of our investigators told us this week that he would like so much to read the Book of Mormon to help him understand it.  We will continue to invite him to activities at church and continue to invite him to come to church with us in the hopes that he sees the light of the Gospel.
We had another investigator, Bertha, who asked a question about the Word of Wisdom a few weeks ago and we thought that that would be the best lesson to teach her. When we invited her to live the Word of Wisdom she said that she already was trying to live it. She had started drinking coffee every other day rather than every day. It was very cool to see her change and have faith enough to try before we even ask/tell her about the commandment of the Word of Wisdom. She also went to Women's conference on Saturday.

This week we had the primary program at church on Sunday, which means that the children from ages 8 to 11  sing and talk in sacrament meeting about things that they have learned over the year. It was so good.

Women's conference, as many of you know, was this Saturday. Women's conference is where the women ages 8 and up meet together to hear from the General Authorities. We heard from women serving in the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary presidency. One of my favorite talks was by Sister Carole M Stephens called the Master Healer. I love how she spoke of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how it is through Christ that we can be healing and how we can find comfort and peace.

Adventures of the Week!!!

Dear Family and Friends,

This week has been quite an adventure. On Monday night of last week we got a text message from some elders in  Long Beach telling us to call them when we had a change to. They called to ask if we would be able to come to a lesson with them. They had investigators that were from Brazil and they wanted us to come to a lesson to help them teach. Sister Cotrim has been able to speak her native language.  It has been so cool to watch her. She is amazing. I know that God has a purpose for us all.

We were able to teach Debbie and begin the after baptism lessons. She is excited about the gospel. They will be going to Hawaii for the week, so we will not be seeing them this week.

Bertha:  We were able to meet with her this week. We read the Book of Mormon with her.

Carla: We have not been able to see her this week. She is excited to learn about the Gospel.

Love you all and hope that you have a great week.

Love,
Jennifer

P. S. Next week we will be going to the Temple next week so P-day will be Tuesday.

Miracles and Blessings

Dear Family and Friends,

I have seen so many miracles this week. Yesterday we have three investigators at church. The Lord is amazing. I know that the Lord is preparing his children.
Carla we were able to meet with on Friday and teach her. She is so excited  to learn about the Gospel. She has found ways to get to church on her own. It has been really amazing seeing my companion speak her native tongue to help Carla learn the Gospel. I am not sure what is being said in the lessons but the spirit is there and that is the most important part.

Bertha came to sacrament meeting yesterday she is very excited about the Gospel. during our lesson with her this week. She asked us a question about the Word of Wisdom and we were able to tell her about it. She also answered her own question about it. I have loved watching her grow in as she learns more about the Gospel.

I know that the Lord is mindful of his children. He loves us and he will bless us we only need to open our eyes to see those blessings. I know that he will help all his children to be  as happy as we can be.

Love,
Sister McGarry III

P.S. Debbie is doing well she has received a calling in the Church and she is excited to her calling.

HB Rules!!

Dear Family and Friends,

Well... It's been a great week. We have seen many things happen. President Patterson is pushing for us to find through members. We have done a lot of finding this week. We have found through our own efforts. We are trying to work with members more and more. It has been good.

Today we will be cleaning out our apartments. President has asked us to take everything that will not fit in two suitcases and a carry-on bag out of our apartment. It's going to be good.
The Zone is very good. We have a great mix of Greenies (new missionaries) and experienced missionaries. It is good for the zone. It has been good.

Huntington Beach is amazing!!!!
